Singapore, 27 May 2024 — The Singapore Reinsurers' Association (SRA) today announces
the opening of registrations for the 2024 Singapore International Reinsurance Conference
(SIRC), to be held from 4 to 7 November at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

Known as one of the world’s largest and leading reinsurance events, the conference this
year marks the 20th instalment in the growing legacy of SIRC, which is expected to host a
line-up of renowned experts, industry leaders and professionals from around the globe.

The Singapore Reinsurers' Association (SRA) has revealed more senior industry leaders who will be joining the strong cast of speakers and panellists who will be featured at this year's 19th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC), which will be held from 30 October to 2 November 2023 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

The theme for this year's 18th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) will be "RE-CONNECTING ... RE-SHAPING THE FUTURE!" to reflect the positive sentiment of the industry after enduring two years of restrictions and disruptions to lives and livelihoods forced upon us by the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as the challenges that economies, businesses and people will face as they look to reclaim and recover lost time and missed opportunities.

Many of us may probably have had little interaction with Theresa, even though she was quite the industry veteran, having entered the industry in July 1990 before rising through the ranks to be CEO of Singapore Re in 2014, probably one of the few women leaders of her generation. She was co-opted into the SRA EXCO in July 2003 and served for a total tenure of 18 years by the time she stepped down in September 2021 - an amazing record that may never be broken!

The Green Finance Industry Taskforce (GFIT), convened by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), issued a consultation paper on a green and transition taxonomy for Singapore-based financial institutions and launched an environmental risk management (ENRM) handbook for banks, insurers, and asset managers today. 

The Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) has evolved rapidly over the last five years.

From being once every two years, sharing its seasonal slot with the East Asia Insurance Congress, it became annual, and now in its very latest format, the organisers made the bold decision to go virtual at short notice.

One clear benefit was not getting lost in the (rather gloomy) hallways of the Marina Bay Sands whilst late for a meeting on the other side of the conference hall.

In conjunction with the opening of the first-ever SIRC 2020 Re-Mind virtual conference and networking event, the SRA launched its 'Parametric Risk Transfer' white paper, which was acknowledged in DPM Heng's Official Keynote Address at the opening of the virtual event. The paper, which was authored by the SRA Technical Sub-Committee, seeks to raise awareness of Parametric Risk Transfer solutions and how they can potentially help narrow the huge protection gap in Asia.

At the Opening Ceremony of the SIRC 2020 Re-Mind Virtual Conference and Networking event on Monday, 2 November 2020, the distinguished Guest-of-Honour, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister for Finance, Mr Heng Swee Keat delivered the Official Keynote Address and announced the launch of the Global-Asia Insuran

The SRA is hosting the SIRC 2020 Re-Mind virtual event will be held on the same dates – 2 to 5 November 2020 – as the rescheduled 17th SIRC. This virtual event, to be co-hosted by Swiss Re, will set the standard for industry conferences in the future digital world. 

AXA XL has announced that its China subsidiary, XL Insurance (China) Company Limited has received the green light from China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) to change its business license in China from an insurance license to reinsurance.
