On 31 March 2015, the SRA Executive Committee (EXCO) hosted a farewell luncheon at the Senso Restaurant on Club Street in honour of Mr Olivier Massot, who was stepping down after serving as an EXCO member for 12 terms from 2003 to 2015. After a four-course lunch, the SRA Chairman, Mr Thomas Lillelund presented Mr Massot with a crystal ‘teardrop’ shaped plaque as a token of appreciation for his long and dedicated service to the Association.
Visibly moved, Mr Massot recounted his long experience of travelling around this region over the past 30 years, and described his most terrifying experience as being in a car along the streets of Marounuchi in Tokyo at the time of the Tohuko earthquake in March 2011. He said it was like a ‘roller coaster’ ride as he saw the road ahead rolling around like a carpet. Asked about his plans for retirement, he said that he has not firmed up his plans as yet, although he would want to stay in this region as this is where all his friends are. In spite of having clocked so many business travel miles over the years, he said that he would like to spend some time after retirement to travel and explore the region at a leisurely pace. Au revoir, Olivier ... you will be missed!
