SRA announces plans for a 'hybrid' 17th SIRC
The SRA is planning to hold the upcoming 17th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) as a “hybrid” event – featuring both a virtual and a scaled-down in-person segment.
The SRA Chairman, Marc Haushofer announced this during the Association’s 42nd Annual General Meeting, which was held virtually last month. He said, “With the global roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines, we are cautiously optimistic that by the time the 17th SIRC is staged in November, some of the Safe Management Measures (SMMs) and travel restrictions that are currently in place will be eased so that we can welcome some of our loyal international supporters back to our shores."
The SRA Secretariat is already conceptualising plans for the hybrid event, which combines a virtual component – similar to last year's SIRC 2020 Re-Mind event – with a scaled-down live segment, which will incorporate all prevailing health and safety protocols.
Haushofer also revealed that the theme of the 17th SIRC will be “Re-insurance: Quo Vadis?”, which he explained, reflects the critical juncture the industry is in at the present and offers much scope for discussion at the event. More details on the event will be announced in late summer.
